They could recite algorithms but couldn't ship a product. They'd never talked to a customer. Never had to care whether something actually worked in production. So I started The Dev Angel — a skills school where the whole point is to build something real, sell it, and learn every hard thing along the way. Every summer and winter (whenever students have holidays from college), I take exactly 10 people and we build a product from scratch together. Not a tutorial. Not a clone.
